Caitlin Thomas was a dancer, writer and the woman behind the famous/infamous and brilliant Welsh poet, Dylan Thomas. She partied as hard as him, advised him, loved him, kept him sober enough to write his poetry and brought up their family on no money, finally surviving his early death. Very little is written about Caitlin, her role in their legend or her recovery, and most portrayals are laughably inaccurate. This is Caitlin’s poetic version of her life with Dylan.
Love Somehow stars RSC and National Theatre actress Sally George as Caitlin Thomas and Griff Rhys Jones playing the voice of Dylan Thomas. The film was adapted from the versed one woman show, The Same Boat, written by Phil Bowen. Sally was recently seen in People Places and Things at the Wyndham in the West End. Grif Rhys Jones has played Dylan Thomas and was the executive producer on Poet in New York. The film was adapted by BAFTA winning writer Anna Maloney and has being directed by Kate Cheeseman. Kate and Sally have collaborated on a number of shows including Casualty and a play about Matisse's Mistresses. The music has been composed by Sally Herbert, who recently finished orchestrating, conduction and arranging Florence and the Machine’s Latest album ‘Too Big, Too Blue Too Beautiful’. She also writes for Elie Goulding / Plan B / Ed Sheehan. Jan Tovey is the cinematographer, a talented graduate from the NFTS course and known for her beautiful lighting on many beautiful films. Love Somehow was completed in July 2016 for festival screening. It was produced by Rachael Cole and The University of Greenwich and edited by StJohn O'Rorke, editor on many films and programmes including the BBC's Dickensian.
